If you must have Alcohol make sure you eat.

Alcohol has been around for a long time.We all enjoy a drink or two with a meal.My father in 80 years always enjoyed a glass or two with his meal.Perhaps if the meal is substantial and the glass is small and the drink is not too heavy one could say how can it hurt.Your liver will stop producing sugar until the body has completed the metabolization process - in effect this means that you will have slightly lower sugar readings if you are a Type 2 Diabetic but a more marked lower sugar reading if you are a Type 1 Diabetic.
Unfortunately the drink may complement the meal but there can be a lot of damage before the body returns to normal. The damage is greatest for one who has Diabetic Neuropathy or is prone to have High Blood pressure.

You should sit down with your Doctor and consider the danger of drinking even if you have your Diabetes under control. We would be interested in comments by diabetics about their experience with drink.
